About Riverdale 24

MEET VAUGHAN CRITTENDEN

Owner and the talent behind Riverdale 24 Productions

Film and storytelling are my passion. From a young age, I didn’t just “watch” a movie, but tried to figure out how they “made” the movie. When I picked up a video camera, there was no turning back. This journey has seen me filming during a hurricane, developing video content for James Madison University Athletics, or freelancing at Langley Speedway. You could say my business was created long before it was officially launched.

I graduated from JMU with a Bachelor’s degree in Media Arts & Design with a concentration in Digital Video and Cinema and a minor in Sports Communication. To further my skills, I worked for the JMU Athletics Department. I shot and developed video content, such as hype videos and public relations pieces.

I briefly stayed in Harrisonburg after graduation to gain skills in a new area of filming. I became a photojournalist for ABC affiliate WHSV. While I was working at the station, my freelance work grew to the point I decided to take the plunge, and officially launched Riverdale 24 Productions in July 2016.

One of the key items I’ve learned is to take a collaborative approach with my clients. I don’t want to just make a video for you. I want to get to know you, hear your ideas, and understand your needs. Together, we can then identify your goals and obtain them.

Through this collaborative process, I’m able to show you my ability to understand your vision and bring it to life in the form of a video. My mission is for you to see your goals achieved, and I’m here to help with that.

WHERE DID THE NAME RIVERDALE 24 PRODUCTIONS ORIGINATE?

I grew up on Riverdale Farm in Deltaville, Virginia and that’s where I learned the value of hard work, long hours and the dedication to an end product. I have worked my entire life on my dad’s 150 acre produce farm (he’s the cantaloupe king!) from the time I was a child all through my college years. Not easy work. Hats off to all the farmers out there… there may be no harder job. On the plus side, I can pick out the best cantaloupe at the grocery store…hands down.

As a young boy of 12 years old and an avid NASCAR fan (I am from rural Virginia), I took up the sport of kart racing and number 24 was my racing number and still is today. In racing, I learned that teamwork, preparation, patience and practice all led to success on the track. I aptly named my company, Riverdale 24 Productions to remind me of what it takes to succeed not only in business but in life.
